With any luck, Skull & Bones will avoid putting human bones inside of any of its sea creatures. Audiences also, for some reason, found out that the horses in Assassin's Creed were made out of human skeletons the whole time. Valhalla is expected to receive even more post-launch support in the form of an upcoming free roguelite mode and new weapons. Assassin's Creed Valhalla, the latest mainline title in the series, has also received extensive post-launch support in the form of numerous paid expansions (most recently the Dawn of Ragnarök DLC). Another rumored upcoming title in the series, Assassin's Creed Rift, will apparently be a stealth-focused game set in Baghdad. A virtual reality title, Assassin's Creed Nexus, was leaked in April. RELATED: Is It Too Late for Skull & Bones?ĭuring the half-decade in between Skull & Bones' announcement and its impending release, the Assassin's Creed series which initially spawned it has been steadily growing. In May, the Australian Rating Board gave Skull & Bones a "Mature" rating, and the ESRB was close behind with an "M" rating of its own for blood, strong language, suggestive themes, use of drugs and violence, providing a small glimpse into the general pirate-y misdeeds players will get up to in the game. While that clip was quickly taken down, it opened the door to more Skull & Bones info, which shortly followed. A few months prior to the official gameplay reveal, a clip of Skull & Bones' early gameplay was leaked on Reddit. While official word on Ubisoft's pirate adventure has been scarce for some time, secondary sources have revealed a fair amount about the title. Initially set for a 2018 release date (then a 2019 release date, then a 2020 release date, then, briefly, a 2021 release date), the game seems set to finally release in 2022. The title, initially conceived as a spinoff of the piracy-themed Assasssin's Creed IV: Black Flag before being developed into its own original IP, was first announced at 2017's E3 event, and it has been delayed several times since then. Skull & Bones has been sailing the tumultuous seas of game development for some time now.
